The exposure of Gulf banks to U.S. subprime mortgage-related instruments is generally limited, according to a survey conducted by Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services of the largest banks it rates in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Our survey also indicates that the knock-on effects of the current deterioration in the subprime market are limited.
