GCC Equity funds, as a whole, performed poorly in March 2008, following the gains seen in February. This poor performance was driven by the increased allocation to Saudi Arabia (26%), which was the worst performing GCC market for the month. Equity fund performance also suffered due to weak regional market sentiment following largely negative global market cues, as illustrated in the 9.9% drop in the MSCI GCC index for the month.
