Re: Reaffirmation of ACBSP Alliance with the Global Academy of Finance and Management

For more than ten years, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the Global Academy of Finance and Management (GAFM) have benefited from a mutual articulation alliance. Both organizations have now reaffirmed their agreement under the following terms and conditions:

Key Points of the Reaffirmed Agreement

Recognition of Accredited Programs:
All ACBSP-accredited baccalaureate and graduate business schools are officially recognized by GAFM as valid educational and degree pathways toward GAFM certification eligibility.

Certification Eligibility:
ACBSP-accredited programs qualify as GAFM-eligible programs. Graduates may receive credit toward the Master Financial Planner (MFP) designation and other GAFM credentials, including:
AFA, AMA, AMC, CAM, ChE, CIPM, CRA, CPM, CWM, MPM, RFS, and additional certifications listed on www.GAFM.org .

Graduate Qualification Standards:
Any student graduating from an ACBSP-accredited business program—with a major or concentration in management, economics, risk, business, accounting, or finance (including 4+ finance-related courses) and a 3.0+ GPA—meets the academic requirements for the relevant GAFM certification. These graduates may apply for Certified or Chartered status upon completion of their degree.

Faculty Eligibility:
Any faculty member teaching within an ACBSP-accredited business program is eligible to apply for any GAFM certification as a pre-qualified candidate.

Ongoing Professional Standards:
After meeting educational and experience requirements, certified students and faculty must comply with the GAFM Code of Professional Ethics and obtain 15 hours of continuing education per year from an ACBSP institution—either by teaching or by attending approved courses.

Continuing Education Recognition:
GAFM will grant CE credit and ISO 29990 recognition for continuing education programs offered by ACBSP schools and at ACBSP conferences.

Joint Public Announcements:
ACBSP and GAFM will annually acknowledge and promote this alliance through newsletters, website links, and standard media communication channels.

Corporate Membership:
The International Board of Standards/GAFM will continue its long-standing corporate membership with ACBSP, now extending over a decade.
